A woman has the most challenging role of all – as a mother she has to ensure that she is there for her family, supporting and nourishing it. As a professional, she needs to break the glass ceiling that she is often faced with. Life becomes a balancing act, emotionally and physically exhausting – and this often causes many women to quit the rat race.

 

However, you don’t always need to sacrifice one for the other- and that is something that Mohua Das, FexiBees consultant with a leading edu-tech startup and mother of a nine-year-old boy, has discovered. The Management graduate in Sales and Marketing, who hails from Kolkata, has had quite a long journey – from her place of birth in Jamshedpur to Kolkata, Surat, the United States, Mumbai and back to Kolkata where she is currently based. “I took a break in my career post my son’s birth and after we relocated to the United States, I started freelancing in content writing for a while.  It was after I returned that I connected with FlexiBees and landed this dream work-from-home business development profile. Through this role, I was able to reconnect with my skills and passion in Sales,” Mohua explains.

 

Mohua is a self-proclaimed workaholic and a perfectionist, and seeing her exceptional performance, the client increased her responsibilities within the first month itself. “My pay also justified my increased role and now I am earning more than a person who goes to full-time work.” The client has placed additional trust in her so that and in the span of the year and a half she has spent with it, Mohua has grown with the client to reach the position that she is in today, leading teams and training others.

 

Having started off in a sales profile, her role has evolved and grown to the core business function of seeking partnerships for the company.   “My profile goes much beyond mere sales now. In my role, I need to understand the capacity of the talent and the business requirement of the company and match it. If the person does not perform, it reflects negatively on me. Hence, I have to provide my client organisation with the best of partners for the business.”

 

It is evident that both Mohua and the client have grown immensely. The client division which she was working for was a fledgling one when she had joined. Today, the same division has grown into a much larger multi-disciplinary team.

 

Mohua credits this growth to her passion for her work and her relationship with FlexiBees. “Both FlexiBees and my client have motivated me and inspired me to perform better to reach this position where I am giving you an interview.” Mohua also believes that commitment and a steadfast focus on the task at hand is what is required for success. “Life is not easy since I do not have a fall back system in my family. But, finally, it is about dedication and focus. While working, I am thoroughly involved with it, and when I am a mother, I focus on that. I believe that success has no shortcuts – hard work and commitment are the key."

 

Over the years, she has also seen her son become more independent, “I have figured out a lot of innovative ways in which I can make my son independent. Today, my son appreciates and understands that his mother has a responsibility for her professional world and that she is not just a homemaker.”  

For Mohua, FlexiBees, the client and her husband, Sourav Das, have been her biggest support systems for her professional and personal growth. “The opportunities for growth are immense, it is only about balancing my professional and personal life.”
