A ray of light

How We Started

Our origin story was built on the foundation of loss. Loss of professional identity, that I encountered in my own career break after motherhood. Which we saw mirrored in thousands of Women around us.

Unplanned career breaks, and even planned ones can severely hamper the sense of contribution a person feels, and takes for granted while working.

Our Vision

Our vision at FlexiBees has been to help Women restore this sense of contribution and worth, by the means of flexible work. The results started coming to us over time. We kept hearing anecdotes of flexible work changing a candidate’s life, increase in her confidence as she grew in her flexible career. Her family life became wholesome, and balanced, releasing time for health and hobbies. Her increased economic contribution also helped her plan her life, and unleashed dreams that had been temporarily stashed away.

Here are some anecdotes that we captured -

A Ray Of Light

Flexible working ended up being the single ray of light that could brighten a dark room, and eventually help Women achieve their full potential.

Our hypotheses on the impact that flexible work created in the lives of Women started proving right. But how right, and did everyone feel it? It became important to us to objectively quantify the impact we were hearing of, and hence we commissioned the Impact Survey via an Independent Market Research agency.

Not only were the survey results heartening and confirmed some of these hypotheses based on which our company was built, we also gleaned some new insights.

New Insights

Such as how working increases the agency and decision making power of a woman in her household and her community. She is viewed with more respect, and her time seen as more valuable. This is not an ideal state of course - every person should be respected irrespective of their work status (or any other status). But here we are, at a 20% participation rate for Women, with gendered roles more the norm than the exception and Women continuing to bear the brunt of unpaid work in households. Respect for pursuing meaningful work and earning money is not a bad deal!

Simple Yet Powerful

Flexible work is a simple, but powerful idea that has finally come of age. We finally know that it can radically transform lives, families and communities for the better.
