This Mothers Day, meet Nithya Kalyani, who loves to inspire other moms

Motherhood was what prompted Nithya Kalyani, a Post Graduate in Mass Communication to quit her job and opt for a work-from-home profile, instead. However, Nithya also credits motherhood and all its accompanying ups and downs, for helping her become a stronger person. The mother of two - eight-year-old daughter Harshita and four-year-old son Harshavardhan - has carried forward her own mother’s strong will and determination to never give up, and hopes to pass it on to her children.

It is this positive attitude of hers which helps Nithya stay focussed and strong during tough times. This is also what her kids find most empowering. “My daughter once told me, " I am so proud of you amma, you handle everything so well that you are not there even for one hour, we miss you so much." Both my kids enjoy my presence at home and I am more than happy to be there when they need me at this early stage of their lives.  I also feel happy when I am able to witness my kids' little milestones and when they show the determination and will to achieve in life,” says Nithya.

Nithya’s children have seen their mother strive hard to get her family and work going, and they have supported her in their own little ways.
Life is not easy being a work-from-home mother of two, but Nithya’s children have seen their mother strive hard to get her family and work going, and they have supported her in their own little ways. “ There have been numerous times when my daughter has had to attend extracurricular classes and I was busy in official calls. However, she has always been understanding and patient enough to support me during those times. My daughter also feels very proud whenever my relatives and friends call me and ask for my advice about pursuing a work-from-home career and seek motivation from me.

The ability to multi-task has helped Nithya go ahead full steam while balancing work and family. “I have tried to apply all the multi-tasking and crisis management lessons that I have ever learnt practically in my life. Further, it also helps if you get support from others, wherever required. I also try to  take good care of myself, since my kids and family are dependent on me,” she says.

“My mother teaches me good manners and a lot of other good things”.

For Nithya, her journey as a mother has just begun and there is a lot more she wishes to learn. “I would like to become a more patient person and spend more quality time with my kids and talk to them as they grow up. I would also like to manage my time better and be around my kids a lot more.” For Nithya’s children though, she is the best mom in the world. “My mother teaches me good manners and a lot of other good things,” her daughter says.
